Senza voce: si spegne la tv pubblica greca di Adele Libero

Non so quanti di Voi hanno visto ieri sera l’informativa, in Tv, sullo spegnimento delle trasmissioni
da parte della Tv pubblica greca.

Tra lo stupore generale, I giornalisti, visibilmente turbati e raccolti intorno ad un tavolo, hanno detto addio al loro pubblico perchè le trasmissioni venivano interrotte sine die.

Sappiamo che la Grecia da anni si sta dibattendo in una crisi finanziaria ed economica terribile e che la Comunità europea, pur di mantenerla artificiosamente in piedi e di continuare a contarla tra i paesi
aderenti all’ Euro, le sta chiedendo incredibili sacrifici in termini di tagli a spese ed a servizi.

Circolavano voci che il Governo di Samaras avesse aderito, recentemente, alla richiesta di spegnere anche la tv pubblica, licenziando I 2.800 dipendenti, al fine di continuare in questa “spending review” indiscriminata.

Ma altre voci, sempre non confermate, indicano che non sia stata la Troika europea (I “consiglieri”) ad imporre questo taglio, bensì sia stata una libera decisione governativa che, con la scusa di risparmiare, ha forse messo a tacere qualche voce troppo critica.

In genere le Tv pubbliche, anche se hanno un bilancio non positivo e scarso pubblico – sembra che la Tv
greca avesse uno share inferiore al 20% – chiudono solo per colpi di stato o occupazione da parte di un esercito straniero. E’ un servizio, cioè, che dovrebbe garantire che una voce indipendente del Paese si possa sempre ascoltare in patria e fuori, una voce veritiera che racconti I fatti.

Per questo sono rimasta così colpita da questa decisione, cui è seguita subito la decisione dei sindacati di indire 24 ore ininterrotte di sciopero generale, con manifestazioni da parte dei dipendenti licenziati ed altre iniziative.

Speriamo che, dopo aver rinunciato ad una vita normale, alle attività economiche basilari, le famiglie greche non siano costrette anche a far tacere la loro voce. Sarebbe veramente insostenibile!!!

Voiceless: turned off the Greek public TV

I do not know how many of you have seen the information last night, on TV, on the shutdown of broadcasts by the Greek public TV.

To everyone’s amazement, Journalists, visibly upset and gathered around a table, said goodbye to their audience because the transmissions were interrupted indefinitely.

We know that Greece has been struggling for years in a terrible financial and economic crisis
and the European Community, in order to artificially keep it up and continue to count it among the Euro countries, is asking for incredible sacrifices in terms of cuts at the expenses and services.

There were rumors that the Government of Samaras had recently agreed, when asked to turn off even the public television, by firing 2,800 employees, in order to continue in this “spending review”,
indiscriminate.

But other voices, also unconfirmed, indicate that it was not the European Troika (the “Directors”) to impose this cut, but it was a free government decision that, under the guise of saving, may have
silenced some voices too critical.

In general, public TV, even if they have a budget in red and scarce public – it seems that the Greek
TV had a share of less than 20% – close only to coups or occupation by a foreign army. It is a service, that has to ensure that an independent voice in the country can always be listened to at home
and abroad, a voice that tells the true facts.

That’s why I was so impressed by this decision, which was followed immediately the decision of unions to call a general strike for 24 hours continuously, with demonstrations by laid-off employees and other initiatives.

I do hope that , after giving up a normal life, economic activities, basic needs, Greek families are not forced also to silence their voices. It would be really unbearable!
